Our Story

"We are committed as ever to share our passion for one of a kind vintage clothing." (Tarn)

I’m Nam-Tarn, which means “Sugar” in Thai. My sister Tern’s nick name is “Cream”. We started our love affair with vintage clothing together, so we called our brand - Sugar Cream Vintage.
We have run our stores in Bangkok for over 10 years and are humbled to share our passion for one of a kind vintage clothing with a global eco-conscious community and help reduce the world’s dependence on fast fashion.

"All Sugar Cream Vintage pieces are classic, timeless and unique." (Tern)

"If they were slightly worn we would fix them, if they didn’t fit, we would tailor them." (Tarn)

Our love for vintage fashion sparked from our mother's unique style. Exploring her closet, filled with treasures like high-waisted jeans and denim jackets, inspired us. We couldn’t find anything in the usual shops that we could connect with - we wanted to wear different and unique clothes. We embraced secondhand clothes, if they were slightly worn we would fix them, if they didn’t fit, we would tailor them.
Less was known then about the hugely detrimental impact fast fashion has on the environment, but something made us want to stand apart from what everyone else was wearing and avoid mainstream retailers.

"They wanted to know how we managed to find the pieces we were wearing." (Tern)

Over time, our confidence and love of vintage clothing flourished. We cherished uncovering the stories behind each piece, often customizing them to add a new chapter. People often ask where we found our clothes, they said they’d been to vintage shops but what they found made them look old or didn’t fit nicely.  They wanted to know how we managed to find the pieces we were wearing.

"We realized we were at a turning point in our life." (Tarn)

Around 2010, we realized our passion could become a thriving business. We began selling at street stalls and events in Bangkok, with our collections consistently sell out. While tailoring and personalizing each piece was hard work, we loved getting to know regular customers and understanding what they wantedfrom their garments too.

Sometimes they said it felt like fate, when we would find something they reallyloved and it was this special connection that inspired us to keep going! So we quit our corporate jobs and committed to Sugar Cream Vintage full time - It was a big step, but one that we have never looked back from!
