Ever since we were young, my sister and I remember seeing hyacinth leaves in the river in our home town of Suphanburi (about an hour north west of Bangkok). 

There was always a huge amount of them and packed into the river.  Now we’re understanding more about their impact - they restricts water-flow which can become a serious problem with flooding in the wet-season.

So when we found that the local communities in Thailand had a way to make yarn from these leaves and then use this yarn to make fabric suitable for face-masks we were very excited! 

It’s a brilliant opportunity to be able to use this organic and sustainable fabric for face-masks to keep us safe and help solve a local environmental problem at the same time. It also provides jobs for local people, which is especially important at times like these.
